in india a blockade by the am students union enters its third day. they are protesting police brutality against students in nagaland last week. an economic blockade by the all am students union, or aasu, entered its third day on monday. hundreds of activists stopped more than 300 trucks bound for nagaland on national highway 39 in the golaghat district. the supply of goods to nagaland has come to a halt as a result. the purpose of the blockade is to demand the immediate arrest of nagaland police officials who beat up school students for blocking the highway last week. the aasu protesters vow to continue their protest until action is taken against the accused police personnel. jatin bora, vice president, aasu: "we condemn the torture carried out by the nagaland police, which the nagaland government has done nothing about. we are protesting by starting this economic blockade. until we get justice we will continue this protest." meanwhile, stranded truck drivers and crew are facing a shortage of food and water. dharma rao, truck driver: "we came here around 2am and we are stranded here without food or water. they are telling us to park our vehicles outside on the road. but where will we park our vehicles we are carrying fish and the storage water is spilling out. where do we take our trucks" the trucks carrying livestock and fish are the worst hit while pigs and other animals are dying due to starvation and heat. to complicate matters, locals are rushing to stock ltbgt...lt bgt
